ME Family Services — 2025 Annual Report — cover

The brief

Mangere East Family Services (MEFS) is dedicated to the regeneration of people and places in South Auckland. They asked me to design and lay out their 2025 Annual Report — and crucially, to move it away from the “boring,” text-heavy template their previous reports had landed on. The document needed to feel like a piece of communication, not a compliance exercise.

The approach

I worked directly with the CEO and Office Manager. The full deliverable included layout, custom illustrations, and a multi-page, print-ready document.

To keep production cost in check without compromising the visual ambition, the cover features AI-generated portraits which I then re-rendered into a stylised, sketch-like aesthetic. These sit alongside an image of Maungarei (Mt Mangere) and the spiral koru that anchors the MEFS brand — a quiet visual metaphor for the organisation’s mission of community regeneration.

Inside, traditional spreadsheets were replaced with big-number callouts, infographics, and supporting imagery. The data is still all there — it just lands now.

Outcome

Exceptionally well received across the organisation. The team is already asking what next year’s edition can do.
