The book
Kayang Kayang Kaya ni Pen! (English: Pen Can Really, Really, Really Do It!) is a children’s book I wrote, illustrated, and designed as part of my visual communication thesis.
The story follows a young protagonist who learns the small joys of outdoor play. Through bright illustrations and an uplifting narrative, the book makes a quiet argument for the physical, mental, and social benefits of getting outside — for parents and educators as much as for the kids.
The why
The thesis was about the positive impact of outdoor activities on child development. Books are easy to give. A book is harder to ignore than a lecture. I wanted to make something a parent might actually leave on a coffee table.
